Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2023, Mickalene Thomas artworks
Art direction by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Artworks by Mickalene Thomas. Scenography by Bureau Betak.
For Dior's Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2023 show at the Musée Rodin, Mickalene Thomas's artworks covered the facade and the walls of the showspace: large portraits in pink, gold and lilac framing the runway.
The graphic work was a gallery-grade translation of these artworks to the scale of the show, from the facade to the photocall and the press kit, with print layouts and technical documents for the set-up. It continued with the dinner (tablecloths, menus, coatchecks and gold-leaf table numbers) and the signage. Sampling and production follow-up covered the prints and the embroideries.
