Spring-Summer 2026, celestial runway

Art direction by Matthieu Blazy

15 planets, 2- to 18-meter diameter · textures built from 65-meter-long, 100 dpi master files

For Chanel's Spring-Summer 2026 show, fifteen luminous planets floated above the runway of the Grand Palais, in a range of colours and sizes, from 2 to 18-meter diameter, two of them ringed.

Within the framework set by the Chanel team, each of these fictional worlds was designed with its rings and given its own ultra-high-definition texture. Airstar printed the textures on canvas and made the spheres.

The challenge was to turn flat, rectangular images into surfaces that wrap a sphere convincingly: the poles are distorted and the two ends of the image have to meet without a visible seam. The textures also had to stay sharp at a very large scale, on a sphere up to 18 meters across. Sampling and colour matching were followed with Airstar through to the final print.

Role and scope

  • Design of the 15 planets and their rings
  • Creation of the ultra-high-definition textures, built from 65-meter-long, 100 dpi master files
  • Files adapted to projection on spheres, delivered to Airstar for printing on canvas
  • Sampling follow-up and colour matching
